Halloween 2008

We had a great time Trick-or-Treating. The weather was in the 50's so we were able to go outside without our closets on our backs, HOORAY FOR GLOBAL WARMING! (This can only be said when you live in the mostly frozen north, don't try it my family from temperate climes, the environmentalists will confiscate your cars as retaliation.)

Here are some photos from the day. Adelia was a kitty princess and Henry was a dog (he despised the hat but loved the reward, ie. candy). First we tromped around the Main Street business and the DSU dorms with the Kennington crew and Hannah and then Addie, Henry and I went around our little neighborhood. A great Halloween, we're excited for when Halloween comes again. Addie reminds me throughout the day that, "When it gets dark (pause) Halloween will come again (serious 'Mom' look) and we will get more candy! (arms in the air as she jumps.) We love you all, Happy Halloween and here's looking to a gracious and humble Thanksgiving.

Adelia's Mess

So I have a queue of not created posts (in my mind) and this post did the first-grade-horror of cutting in front of everyone else. Perhaps it had a buddy that it wanted to keep up with (ie - Lisa's post of her messy house).

As I washed dishes in my kitchen this morning I listened to NPR and let the stories and reports transport me to a time and place where ideas and world issues reigned. It was quiet and informative and I was once again intelligent and witty. There was a good conversation going on (in my mind) of the ills of being forced to have only one child (think of the earthquake in China that killed the only child of many Chinese families) and perhaps even a potential book in the far away future that could center on this crisis. As I walked around the corner to check on my children (remember it was quiet), I found this...

and thought that maybe I could deal with just one child, as long as it was the younger. Sadly, he was lost in the rubble and I'm stuck with the earth-shaker. To quote Jennifer, "Oh the joys of motherhood."

Play Time!

I love my kids. Henry and Adelia are learning to play with each other, or rather, Adelia is now playing (sometimes) with Henry. Henry adores Addie, she is the sun and we are mere spheres pulled into her gravitational pull of awesomeness. What fun to be little. As I followed my kids around the house today I thought of Isaiah 11:6 "The wolf shall dwell with the lamb and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them." Which means I'm the wolf?, leopard?, fatling? wahahaha, I'm funny. Enjoy!

My First South Dakota Christmas (Day)

Merry Christmas Henry and JB!

I had a video of Adelia finding Henry's presents on Christmas, but I don't know where I put it, so you're spared for the time being. Santa brought Addie a GeoTrax set but she only had eyes for Henry's dog that Santa left in his stocking. I don't think she played with any of the gifts intended for her until New Years. Funny girl.

The Kennington's, a family in our branch, came for Christmas morning brunch.

It was beautiful outside. A picture perfect Christmas complete with white fluffy snow gently falling and coating the plains with bright white. There are some advantages to living in the mid-West.
